THIS is the moment brazen thieves looted a lorry in broad daylight on a Madrid highway by using the dangerous ‘Mexican method’.
The coordinated gang struck on a single-lane service road of the M-506 near Pinto, a town south of the Spanish capital.
Footage recorded by the driver shows a white car positioned in front of his lorry, forcing him to come to a complete stop with no room to manoeuvre.
Once the vehicle was boxed in, several individuals jumped out of a second car behind the lorry and forced open the trailer.
They were filmed dragging several pallets of goods out of the back of the truck while the helpless driver sounded his horn.
“This cannot be happening, they are robbing me again,” the driver said as he recorded the raid from his cab.
Another trucker travelling on the opposite service road also managed to film the theft.
Police sources state that while this blockade tactic is not the most common in Spain, it is a frequent technique used to rob vehicles in Mexico.
The incident has sparked outrage from Jovenes del Camion, a Spanish truckers’ union, who have demanded an urgent increase in police patrols.
“Seeing these images is scary,” a spokesperson for the union said.
“The thieves do not care about anything and roam freely,” they added.
The group said that while fuel and cargo thefts are a known problem in Spain, this specific daylight ambush represents a severe escalation in highway crime.
