A TOURIST visiting the Costa del Sol has been arrested after allegedly attacking his partner before barricading himself inside a hotel room with a knife and one of his young children.

Officers from the Policia Local and Guardia Civil were called to the hotel in Manilva in Malaga province on Friday following reports of a suspected domestic violence incident.

The man allegedly became violent during a heated argument with his partner, prompting the woman to grab two of their children and flee the room.

The suspect is said to have chased her through the hotel before a security guard stepped in, sparking a struggle that ended with the man on the ground.

The situation then escalated when the suspect returned to the room and locked himself inside with a third child.

He was reportedly armed with a knife.

Police officers equipped with protective gear obtained a master key from hotel staff before entering the room.

They successfully overpowered the suspect before detaining him on suspicion of gender-based violence.

The incident reportedly took place on the family’s final day in Manliva, shortly before they were due to return to their home country.

Sources cited by Diario Sur said it was not the first time police had been called to the hotel over suspected domestic abuse involving the couple.

No further details about the children or the suspect have been released, including nationality.
