The Calp Town council says registering on the padron helps residents access local services and have a say in local and European elections.

Calp Town Council, through the Department of Citizen Participation, has launched a new awareness campaign under the slogan ‘Tu voz cuenta’ (Your Voice Matters).

The initiative aims to encourage non-registered residents to register on the municipal register (padron) and remind registered foreign residents of the legal requirement to periodically renew their status.

The campaign highlights the direct benefits of being registered on the padron. Being on the official registry enables residents to access public services, vote in local and European elections, and receive personalized municipal information.

Furthermore, higher registration figures allow the municipality to secure greater funding from state and regional administrations, which directly translates into improved public services, infrastructure, healthcare, education, and security for the entire community.

Additionally, the council stresses the importance of census renewal.

Under current Spanish legislation, non-EU citizens without permanent residence must renew their registration every two years, while EU citizens and non-EU citizens with long-term residence must confirm their address every two to five years, depending on whether or not they are registered in the Central Foreigners Register.

Residents can check their registration status or complete the process in person at the Citizen Attention Office (OAC) located at the Town Hall, or online through the municipal e-Office (Sede Electronica).
