“Illegal” quarry protests

by

PROTESTORS have marched against the continuing “illegal” quarrying in Alhaurín de la Torre, Málaga.

Green group Ecologistas en Accion and residents’ association Platform in Defence of Alhaurin’s Health and Sierra (PDAHS) claim the continued extraction of material from the Sierra de Mijas quarries was threatening the local environment.

A PDAHS spokeswoman said: “Seeing the destruction of the mountains at such a rate, we are conscious that soon we will have no land and no future.”
The two groups have demanded an instant stop to work at the quarries.
