THE mystery surrounding the dead body found dumped in a ditch in Marbella continues.

Police have established that he was a Bulgarian citizen, but have yet to find any links between him and Spain.

The unnamed victim was shot at four times, thrice in the stomach and once in the arm, before being dumped in a ditch next to A-7176, which connects Istan with Marbella.

The initial investigation was working with the theory that the murder was a typical settling of accounts.

However police sources say investigators are now working several different lines of enquiry to understand more about the man’s life and more importantly who his enemies may have been.

The Costa del Sol unit of the UDYCO force (Unit Against Drugs and Organised Crime), has taken over the investigation.

Medical experts believe the man had only been dead for a few hours when it was found dumped on Sunday morning.
