A FIRE broke out on the Costa del Sol at 6.15pm this evening which led to the evacuation of 40 persons from the Reserva del Higueron Hotel & Spa.
The blaze quickly spread from a ditch at km217 alongside the A7 – which was partially closed for a time.
Firefighting teams and three helicopters battled the flames for two hours to bring the fire under control.
No injuries have been reported although there is damage to building facades and gardens.
The firefighting efforts were complicated by strong winds and darkness.
