‘La Clegg’ breezes into windy Spain role

THE Spanish wife of UK Deputy PM Nick Clegg has swept up a new job – working for the world’s largest builder of wind farms.

Miriam Gonzalez Durantez, from Valladolid, has assumed the role of independent advisor to Acciona, based in Madrid.

Describing itself as a world leader in renewable energy, infrastructure projects and water management, Acciona has already built four farms in the UK.

It recently opened a desalination plant on the Thames estuary to make river water drinkable for London.

And a company spokesperson welcomed her on board, saying it demonstrated its “commitment to international expansion”.

  1. Coincidence this happened at the same time she became wife of the Deputy Leader. Politics is all so ‘who you know’ and not ‘what you know’. Clearly it will help Acciona having a foot in the door to the UK government.
