THE date for the Gibraltar election has still not been announced.

But with parliament set to be automatically dissolved on November 7, Chief Minister Peter Caruana only has a few days to decide if he is to keep his word that the election will be before Christmas.

Assuming he waits to the last day, the election will take place on December 8.

To call an election any later would invite criticism that the government was trying to cling to power, without parliament in place.
