Raise a sherry to a 200-year-old Charles Dickens

ANDALUCIA is set to play a prominent role in the celebration of Charles Dickens’ 200th birthday.

The famous author – well known for his love of sherry – will be commemorated with a series of functions to mark his bicentenary on February 7.

As part of the programme of events, Jerez-based academic Jose Luis Jimenez has been invited by the Dickens Museum to present his work, Sherry with Dickens.

The sherry theme will feature prominently throughout the celebrations, with Williams & Humbert showcasing a number of varieties from the Jerez region.

Other events include a wreath-laying ceremony at Westminster Abbey and a fundraising dinner at Mansion House.
