Spains’s longest-serving prisoner to wait a little longer

SPAIN’S longest-serving common prisoner is to stay behind bars, at least until the summer.

A Granada court has dismissed a petition by Miguel Montes and insists the prisoner should remain in Albalote jail to complete a 171-day sentence still pending.

Montes, who was first imprisoned in 1966 and has been behind bars for 35 of the last 36 years for 20 different offences, is now expected to be set free on June 18.
