GRANADA is set to welcome four of the most influential artists in contemporary music
For four months, the city transforms into a living stage with an eclectic lineup ranging from Latin urban pop and rock to indie and singer-songwriter music.
One of the biggest draws in Spain this summer is Sting who plays the city on July 15.
The former frontman of The Police and creator of anthems like “Roxanne” and “Message in a Bottle,” will bring intensity and elegance to the city.
The concert, part of the Sting 3.0 tour – on which the artist will be accompanied by guitarist Dominic Miller and drummer Chris Maas – will take place at the stunning Plaza de Toros.
Meanwhile, Johnny Marr, guitarist and songwriter for The Smiths, will perform on July 23 for his only confirmed show in Spain.
Marr defined the sound of British indie with his signature crystalline arpeggios and melodic textures, becoming one of the most influential figures in contemporary guitar music.
Considered the heir to George Harrison’s compositional elegance and a precursor to much of Britpop, he later worked with Electronic and The The.
Later on October 6, it will be Teenage Fanclub’s turn, marking their fourth visit to the city.
With a sound not unlike The Byrds, Big Star, and The Beach Boys, they will be popular to new generations and longtime fans alike.
A week later on October 14, Ryan Adams will offer a journey through his legacy of alternative country and power-pop at his only confirmed date in Andalusia.
Described as “an unstoppable musical torrent,” the American will showcase his many facets, from incendiary guitars and acoustic landscapes to his more experimental sounds.
Other shows include Danny Ocean as well as Ariel Rot, Valeria Castro and the living legend of music, Víctor Manuel.
To cap it all off, Loquillo will close the festival in October.
