Any reason why they should ? I would hazard a guess that well over two thirds of the British do not speak Spanish or French. Indeed it is getting increasingly difficult to find a young English person who even speaks intelligible English
Hear Hear PM the British are without a doubt in my mind the worst at foreign languages. I never learned any at school but at the age of 62 I’m adding Spanish to my basic French and German (self taught out of necessity of living for some time in those countries). I cringe when I hear the old D O Y O U H A V E A N Y B E E R? Loud and slow.
