Nerja’s bid for bilingual schooling

Funds allocated for education announced

BILINGUAL education will soon be available in all secondary schools in Nerja – if a town hall appeal is successful.

Education councillor Gema Garcia has presented a motion to the Junta, flagging up the fact that Nerja only has one centre offering bilingual education, in Fuente del Baden.

“Ideally bilingual education would be available in all schools in the area so all pupils can benefit from it and learn a second language, even a third,” said Garcia.

“We need to remember that Nerja is a very touristy area. Knowing how to speak another language has become fundamental when it comes to getting a job.”
