EXCLUSIVE: Fuengirola beheader tried to kill his mother two weeks earlier

THE man who beheaded his sister in Fuengirola attempted to kill his mother two weeks before, the Olive Press has uncovered.

The 19-year-old Ecuadorian man remains in police custody after killing his 22-year-old sister in their apartment on the paseo maritimo on Monday.

Staff at the Churreria Alcala, in los Boliches, told the Olive Press that the man’s mother took refuge in the restaurant two weeks earlier ‘in fear of her life’.

One waiter said: “She ran in and looked distressed. Her son was walking by looking for her.

“She was hiding from him and scared that he would find her.”

The man’s mother and sister had in fact moved out of the apartment months ago.

However, they returned on a weekly basis to check on the man’s health and to provide him with food.

Nearby shop keeper Silvia Dominguez said: “I have heard a lot of things about this man.

“Apparently he is a violent person and he often threatened his mother and sister.”

Neighbours reported the incident to police on Monday morning after the siblings were heard arguing.

The man – who reportedly suffers from mental illness – also called police to confess what he had done.
