Tech firms Cheil Spain and Samsung create ‘blind cap’ for paralympic swimmers

cap for blind swimmersA ‘BLIND cap’ set to revolutionise Paralympic swimming has been created by Spanish tech firm Cheil Spain and Samsung.

The bluetooth enabled headpiece vibrates to alert swimmers of when to flip turn at the end of the pool and begin another length.

The device was developed by the Spanish Paralympic Committee and sees the swimmer’s coach tap a prompt on their smartphone to make it vibrate.

Laurence Dollimore

Laurence Dollimore is a Spanish-speaking, NCTJ-trained journalist with almost a decade’s worth of experience.
The London native has a BA in International Relations from the University of Leeds and and an MA in the same subject from Queen Mary University London.
