Team GB lose first Davis Cup rubber against Spain in Marbella

GREAT Britain are 1-0 down against Spain in their Davis Cup World Group after Brit Liam Broady was beaten in straight sets by Albert Ramos-Vinolas.

Broady, ranked 165, put up a good fight but lost 6-3 6-4 7-6 (8-6) to the world number 21.

Australian Open semi-finalist Kyle Edmund was set to play in the tie but was not chosen by captain Leon Smith because of a hip injury.

Briton Cameron Norrie will face Roberto Bautista Agut in today’s second singles rubber on clay at the Puente Romano hotel in Marbella.
