A 24-YEAR-OLD student has died while trying to take a selfie at a popular tourist spot in Andalucia.

The art history student fell to his death on Friday from the Puente de Lata in Granada.

Named as Jenaro Melguizo, the young man reportedly asked his brother to stop the car so he could take a selfie on the bridge.

But while taking the picture, he fell more than 50 metres to his death into the gorge below.

Jenaro was loved in his town and played the oboe in local band Amigos de la Música de Dúrcal.

He also played in the futsal team and worked weekends at the well-known Flamboyant coffee shop in Dúrcal.
