Man starved dog to avoid ‘picking up its poo’ arrested on the Costa Blanca

A MAN has been arrested in Denia on charges of animal abuse after starving his dog so he didn’t ‘have to pick up its poo’.

Passersby spotted the ‘weak’ and ‘dehydrated’ dog on Calle Patricio Ferrandiz and tried to feed it.

But the 34-year-old Spanish owner kicked the dog away from the food saying ‘I decide when I feed my dog’.

He said he had not fed it for ‘three days’ so he would not have to deal with the consequences of digestion.

Policia Nacional were called to the scene and arrested the man for animal abuse.

The dog was retrieved by members of Protectora de Animales de Denia.
