Woman, 69, drowns at Benalmadena beach on Spain’s Costa del Sol

A WOMAN has drowned off a beach in Benalmadena on Spain’s Costa del Sol.

Emergency services were alerted just after midday today that a 69-year-old swimmer had been recovered from the water at Las Gaviotas beach.

Despite efforts to revive her, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

This incident is the second drowning to occur on Las Gaviotas beach this summer.

On July 1, a 33 year-old man died after getting in trouble whilst swimming at the beach.
