THE most exciting part of any film festival, save from the movies themselves, is seeing what the stars are wearing.

But few would have been able to predict at the start of the year that a face mask would become the must have accessory on the red carpet.

Johnny Depp was among the A list arrivals at the socially distanced 68th San Sebastian Film Festival in the Spanish city on Sunday.

The Academy Award-nominated actor, 55, stood with his mask in hand as he was snapped ahead of the premier of his new movie new Crock Of Gold: A Few Rounds With Shane MacGowan.

The film, which he produced on the singer combines unseen footage from The Pogues band and the MacGowan family.

Wearing an oversized baker hat, leather jacket and aviators the Pirates of the Carribean star waved at film buffs, who are also hoping to catch a glimpse of actors Javier Bardem and Frances McDormand. Both stars are also unveiling new movies as part of the major festival that runs from 18 to 26 September 2020.

The festival will be organised slightly differently this year in the wake of COVID 19, with red carpets without public due to the pandemic.

Organisers have also reduced the number of film screenings as well as the seating capacity in cinemas.
