CADIZ CF have shocked supporters by beating the football giants Real Madrid 1-0.

After a 14 year absence, Cadiz were promoted back to the La Liga Primera División in July.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid have historically dominated the division with a record 34 La Liga victories to their name.

Cadiz will now move on to the same number of points as Real Madrid in La Liga.

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane changed four players at half time. But Anthony Lozano’s goal in the 16th minutes had already given the underdogs the points they needed.

Captain Sergio Ramos was at fault for the goal and did not appear in the second half due to a knee injury.

Alvaro Negredo set up the goal for Lozano who got goalside of Ramos and scored with a shot over Real Madrid keeper Thibaut Courtois.

“We’ve got to accept defeat and that’s all there is to it,” the Real Madrid coach said in an online conference.

“We can’t be pleased with ourselves and we’re not, but these things can happen in football.”

“If you don’t get off to a good start, things can become an uphill struggle and that’s what happened tonight, but it’s no excuse.”

“We’ve lost a game, nothing more than that. We have now got to focus on our next game and try to turn it around.”
