TEMPERATURES will soar to 44 degrees on Wednesday in some inland cities of Spain, after a period of sand storms and mud rains in parts of the country.
The State Meteorological Agency(Aemet) says that on Tuesday temperatures will be significantly higher in the north-east, the Meseta, parts of the Balearic Islands and inland areas of Andalucia.
On Wednesday, Aemet predicts that the heat will be ‘especially torrid’ in the eastern half and south of Spain.

Orange heat warnings have been issued for La Rioja, Navarra, Aragon, Catalunya, the Valencian Community, the Balearic Islands, Castilla-La Mancha, Murcia and Andalucia.
Yellow warnings apply to Madrid, Castilla y Leon, Extremadura and the Basque Country.
Aemet forecasts suggest that temperatures will reach 40 degrees or more in 12 provincial capitals, namely: Albacete, Ciudad Real, Cordoba, Girona, Granada, Jaen, Lleida, Logroño, Murcia, Sevilla, Toledo and Zaragoza.
When the sun goes down, it still feel hot with minimum temperature remaining remaining above 25 degrees on the south-east coast, as well as possibly parts of the Guadalquivir and the Ebro, resulting in ‘tropical nights’ that will make sleeping difficult.
From Thursday there could be temperature falls in the north, but intense heat will continue in the rest of Spain with large areas of the centre, south and east of the country remaining at between 37 and 40 degrees.
Temperatures will drop slightly on Friday in a brief respite before climbing back up again.
