SUMMER in Spain wouldn’t be complete without a visit to a chiringuito, as the country’s beach bars are affectionately known.
But there are hundreds to choose from up and down the country’s coasts, with consumers literally spoilt for choice.
Fortunately, then, Tapas Magazine – which is from the stable of prestigious Forbes – is here to help us out with its list of ‘Best Tapas Chiringuitos 2024’, produced in conjunction with Aperol Spritz..
For the third year in a row, the magazine has chosen two establishments from Alicante province: La Siesta, which is located in Javea, and Los Baños Sunshine, which is in Denia.
La Siesta, the magazine points out, is where you can do ‘everything but sleep’.
It’s ‘ideal for a relaxed breakfast or lunch in front of the sea’, and offers everything from sushi and pizzas to tapas, meat dishes and fish.
You can lounge on Balinese beds or hammocks, or dance the night away once the sun sets.
As for Los Baños Sunshine, meanwhile, Tapas Magazine describes the venue as an ‘eden’, thanks to its woods, organic fabrics, turquoise colours and ‘even it’s own vintage van’.
The food is prepared with produce grown in their own allotment, and on the menu are cocas – a kind of Catalan pizza – as well as fusion dishes.
