A SWISS tourist has been arrested on suspicion of raping a 17-year-old British holidaymaker at a restaurant in the popular resort town of Magaluf.

The alleged attack took place in the early hours of Sunday morning following a dinner show.

The British teenager, who had initially gone out with friends, ended up socialising with the Swiss man following the show, despite not knowing him beforehand.

Police heard how the 17-year-old boy had been sharing a table with the man during the show, and after the event, the pair continued to drink together.

The teenager was taken to hospital for a medical examination before giving a full statement to the authorities.

His alleged attack appeared in court later that day but was released on bail.

It is unclear if he has been allowed to leave Majorca while the investigation continues. He declined to comment during the court hearing.
