Watch: German family are rescued from their luxury yacht off the coast of Spain before it sinks to the bottom of the sea

A GERMAN family were plucked from a sinking luxury yacht off the coast of Mallorca after their summer holiday took a sour turn.

The yacht, identified as a Sunseeker, began taking on water, near a bay in the southwestern part of the island on August 10th.

A lifeboat was scrambled by their distress calls and dashed out to rescue the five people on board and take them safely to Port Adriano.

According to the Spanish Maritime Rescue Service, when they arrived the salon was ‘completely flooded, with no possibility of bailing’, and will end up at the bottom of the sea.

The cause of the accident is still unknown.

Meanwhile, the yacht’s owner now faces the daunting task of recovering the sunken vessel — a costly endeavour that must be planned and financed in coordination with local authorities.

Early reports indicate that there have been no oil or fuel leaks, preventing further environmental damage.
