A BEAUTIFUL beach in western Andalucia has caught the international spotlight after being named an ‘undiscovered gem’ by the British press.
The Sun newspaper highlighted Mazagon for its authentic character and lack of overcrowding.
The publication noted that residents far outnumber tourists in the town, reinforcing its local identity.
The area’s combination of tranquillity and authenticity has drawn lots of British visitors.
Located on the Huelva coast and well-connected to Sevilla, the town has managed to avoid the proliferation of high-rise buildings.

The beach is located in the vicinity of Doñana National Park, which enhances its appeal for nature lovers.
This proximity allows visitors to explore one of Europe’s most important wetlands, home to the endangered Iberian lynx and thousands of migratory birds.
Its coastline is defined by long, pristine golden sand beaches and sandstone cliffs.
The Asperillo cliff, a Natural Monument, offers a dramatic backdrop of fossilised dunes that glow orange at sunset.
Mazagon also offers much lower prices for accommodation than established hotspots on the Costa del Sol.

Mazagon famously inspired Francisco de Goya to paint two of his most iconic masterpieces.
He spent time at the Palacio de Doñana as a guest of the Duchess of Alba.
Historians believe the stunning coastal light and dunes served as the backdrop for La Maja Desnuda and La Maja Vestida.
The Duchess herself is often cited as the model for these world-renowned works.
The town is now positioning itself as an emerging gem for those seeking quality of life away from mass tourism.
