Tragedy in Madrid after youngster, 20, dies in early-morning park stabbing attack

A 20-YEAR-OLD Nigerian man has died after being stabbed in the chest in a Madrid park. 

The youngster was discovered with several stab wounds to the chest at around 7.30am on 5 May in El Paraiso park in Madrid’s San Blas neighbourhood.

Police were first to arrive at the scene quickly followed by a team of paramedics. 

Following the attack, the victim went into cardiac arrest and although paramedics attempted to resuscitate him for over half an hour, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Madrid’s police arrested a 37-year-old Algerian man found nearby who has a criminal record for assault and drug-related offences.

The deceased had several prior arrests for drug-related offences, and investigators are considering whether the killing may have been linked to a drug-related dispute.

The Policia Nacional’s Homicide Unit is investigating the case which took place in one of Madrid’s most dangerous neighbourhoods. 

Data from Madrid’s local police indicate that 219 incidents, including robberies, assaults and drug-related offences, were reported in the San Blas neighbourhood in 2025.
