Spanish low-cost airline reassures passengers it doesn’t ’anticipate’ any disruptions to its flights this summer over jet fuel crisis

A LOW-cost Spanish airline has reassured passengers by telling them that it does not ‘anticipate’ any disruptions to its flights due to the jet fuel crisis this summer.

Vueling has conveyed a ‘calm and confident’ message to its customers on social media, stating that it does not ‘anticipate disruptions in the supply of fuel this summer’.

The airline also stated that ‘the price at which you reserve your ticket will be the price at which you fly’. It stated that they will not apply additional charges even if the cost of jet fuel is to increase.

This contradicts the decision of a different Spanish airline which notified passengers that they may have to pay an additional fuel surcharge after booking their tickets.

Last month Volotea, which was founded in 2011 by the same individuals that founded Vueling in 2004, said that they could charge up to 9 per ticket for fuel if prices increase after purchase.

Passengers will be informed seven days before departure if they are required to pay this additional charge and have the right to cancel or change their flight and receive a refund up to four hours before departure.

Volotea has also announced that if fuel prices fall then their customers could receive a partial refund.

In Vueling’s social media post it too mentioned refunds.

The airline has flights to over 100 destinations occurring this summer with a full timetable that allows it to offer alternatives in the ‘unlikely’ case that an adjustment must be made to a passenger’s planned flight.

If these alternatives do not suit a flier’s needs then they can request a refund.
