An AMERICAN tourist is the second person facing serious injuries after falling off the veranda of his Ibiza hotel, an act not covered by insurance when alcohol is involved.
A young US traveller suffered multiple injuries after he fell off the terrace of his Ibiza hotel.
The 19-year-old victim ended up with broken bones in his neck and upper back, along with a collapsed lung and bruising to his lung tissue.
Medical services were called to the scene outside of a hotel in Santa Eularia on Sunday around 7pm before transporting the victim to a local hospital.

Reports indicate that the male fell from about 12 metres up.
The tourist still remains in the Intensive Care Unit with authorities saying his condition is ‘stable but serious.’
Just a day later another person fell off a separate building in Ibiza, also suffering from life altering injuries.

The act of ‘balconing’ is a common occurence in Spain, with roughly 10 to 15 incidents resulting in injuries or fatalities each year.
These events often occur during peak summer season and are linked to young, intoxicated tourists.
When an emegency scenario occurs during holiday, the FCDO warns that any risky behaviour could prevent an inurance claim from getting covered.
More specifically, accidents that occur on balconies or that involve the use of drugs and alcohol will be invalidated by insurance policies.
The UK foreign travel advice page cautions tourists that dangerous behavious on balconies could result in fines and evictions.
