Marbella to get €7 million facelift with resurfaced roads, a new recycling hub and a San Pedro street revamp

MARBELLA is set for a €7.23 million facelift after the town hall approved a raft of new projects.

The planned works involve resurfacing roads, upgrading sports facilities, a new recycling hub and a revamp of key San Pedro street.

The cash, drawn from the town hall’s treasury surplus, will fund a series of projects aimed at improving road safety, accessibility, cleanliness and sustainability.

A large portion of the funding will be used to resurface roads across Marbella in a bid to improve safety and tackle wear and tear on some of the town’s busiest routes.

New LED street lamps will be installed across the city to improve visibility on Marbella’s roads and reduce energy consumption.

The investment will also extend to Marbella’s sporting facilities, with upgrades planned for the Carlos Cabezas and Antonio Serrano Lima sports centres.

In addition, San Pedro de Alcantara is set for a major makeover with a new recycling point aimed to reduce flytipping.

San Pedro’s Calle de los Romeros is set for an upgrade with the project designed to modernise the area and improve accessibility for pedestrians.

Other works include improvements to public toilets in Parque de la Constitucion and a new section of Marbella’s coastal path in the Alicate area, extending one of the Costa del Sol’s most popular walking routes.

The council will also invest in new cleaning equipment, including pressure-washing machinery, as part of efforts to keep pace with the demands of a growing tourism sector.
