THREE British tourists have been accused of terrorising a Malaga neighbourhood after allegedly slashing parked-car tyres and lobbing glass bottles into the streets.

The chaos erupted in the city’s La Trinidad neighbourhood at around 3am on Sunday, after locals were woken by a rowdy group.

One resident told Malaga Hoy the noise quickly descended into a spree of destruction, with two of the British tourists allegedly seen carrying knives and using them to slash the tyres of parked cars.

The trio were also accused of throwing beer and glass bottles and interfering with construction equipment at nearby Malaga Metro works.

Images appear to show one of the men picking up a huge red construction barrier and lifting it above his head before repeatedly striking it and dumping it in the middle of the road.

The resident claimed the mayhem continued for between one and two hours before police finally arrived.

She said residents in the area have repeatedly been forced to put up with trouble linked to tourists.

The woman also alleged that some properties in the neighbourhood are being used as holiday lets without the necessary tourist licences.

“We’re always dealing with something,” she said, claiming residents now ‘live in fear’.

The latest incident has reignited anger over antisocial behaviour linked to tourism in central Malaga.

Carlos Carrera, president of the Centro Antiguo residents’ association, said incidents like this were ‘not uncommon’.

He added residents in central Malaga have become accustomed to complaints about late-night fights, excessive noise and damage to residential buildings.
