SEVEN people have been arrested on the Costa del Sol believed to be connected to a violent drug heist in Granada that left a man shot in the head.
Police raided several properties in the expat hotspots Mijas, Estepona and Benalmadena where they discovered a total of €47,690, 37kg of hashish and ammunition.Â
Seven suspects were arrested and charged with attempted murder as well as drug trafficking offences and membership of a criminal organisation.
The investigation dates back to November 2025 when authorities were called to what appeared to be a car crash near Granada.
However, when they reached the scene, they found the driver and a passenger had been shot, with the driver suffering a gunshot wound to the head.
Another police car later came across a second crashed vehicle near the scene, abandoned and carrying a strong smell of hashish.
Minutes later, a further report led officers to a third abandoned car, where five packages of hashish weighing around 200kg were discovered.
All three vehicles were impounded and taken to a storage facility in Granada.

A few days later, someone broke into the facility and set one of the vehicles on fire.
From the outset, authorities treated the case as a drug-related heist, believing it involved rival gangs targeting each other.
After seven months of investigation, police uncovered a drug trafficking network in the heart of the Costa del Sol.
The seven suspects have been remanded in custody ahead of a trial.
