A YOUNG musician from Liverpool has turned his talents to one of his first true loves – the Costa del Sol.
Oh! Alfie, whose real name is Alfie Erskine, spent his teen years in Los Angeles but is now is shining the spotlight on Malaga with his latest single, ‘8pm in Fuengirola’.
The 22-year-old Brit says the track was born during a recent trip back to the Costa del Sol – a destination that has been part of his life since childhood.
“I spent a lot of my childhood on holiday in Fuengirola and Mijas,” he told the Olive Press.

“It only felt right to weave my own history into my music.
“I was actually in Spain in 2010 when Spain lifted [the World Cup], I think I really fell in love with Mijas and the Costa Del Sol in general at that point.”
The song’s origins were surprisingly simple.
While staying in an Airbnb in Fuengirola, Alfie found himself sheltering from the summer heat and waiting for a phone call that would determine his plans for the evening.
Instead of waiting around, he opened his laptop and began writing.
Three weeks later, the track had been recorded, mixed, mastered and released.

For Alfie, the appeal of the Costa del Sol extends beyond its scenery. He draws comparisons between the people of Malaga province and those of his native hometown, Liverpool.
“I always said the people of Mijas and Fuengirola had a Scouse feel about them – very humorous, friendly and banterful,” he said.
The track draws upon various influences, blending alternative pop with sounds inspired by Drake’s Views, Rihanna’s ANTI and even Shakira’s World Cup era sound, which Alfie draws fond memories from.

With five tracks under his belt and a growing online following, the single marks the latest step in the artist’s musical journey, adding to his repertoire of unique sounds.
‘8pm in Fuengirola’ is available now on streaming platforms.
