Spaniards spend one third of their working day surfing the web, chatting, doom scrolling and daydreaming – and remote workers are the worst

FROM doomscrolling to daydreaming, Spaniards spend a third of the workday distracted by non-work activities, according to a new study that found remote workers are the worst culprits.

A new study by communications company, Ringover, has revealed that although the working week in Spain is 40 hours, the average Spaniard is only productive for 25.5 hours.

They dedicate the remaining hours to surfing the web, chatting with friends and family, online shopping and doomscrolling.

According to the report, the typical Spaniard is only productive for five hours and six minutes each day.

This means that on an average eight hour workday, Spaniards spend two and a half hours on non-work activities, representing a third of the working day.

Women emerged as the more productive workers, logging an average of 36 minutes more work each day than their male counterparts.

Productivity also varies by age group with workers aged between 28-43 logging under five productive hours daily, below the 18-27 age group.

Meanwhile, the 44-59 age bracket tops the productivity table at six hours per day on average.

Remote workers emerged as the biggest offenders, logging 36 fewer minutes of work each day than employees in the office.

Hybrid workers, who combine working from home and in the office, were found to be the most productive.
