A NORWEGIAN teenager who died in a suspected hit-and-run on the Costa del Sol shared an Uber with two men before the fatal crash, an investigation has revealed.
CCTV footage obtained by investigators reportedly shows Nikoline Piwoni Hoie, 17, leaving a bar in Marbella’s Puerto Banús with two young men just hours before her mysterious death, according to El Español.
Tributes poured in for the teenager last week after she was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the A-7 motorway in Mijas, near Marbella, at around 5.20am on Monday.
Her friends had lost sight of her at around 4am while they celebrated Norway’s World Cup victory over Brazil at Funky Buddha, leaving investigators to piece together her final movements.
The latest breakthrough suggests Nikoline shared an Uber with the two men before asking to be dropped off on the A-7 near Mijas.
The Uber driver stopped near a taxi rank in the Riviera del Sol area, where Nikoline is believed to have attempted to cross the motorway on foot despite the presence of a pedestrian underpass.
Guardia Civil officers are reportedly investigating whether Nikoline had consumed drugs or alcohol, while also trying to establish the identities of the two men and how they came to meet her.
The only known witness told investigators that the impact threw Nikoline’s body across the carriageway into the opposite lane.
Nikoline, who was from Arendal in southern Norway, had been due to return home to her father and stepmother on the day of the accident.
Several members of her extended family have reportedly travelled to Spain to follow the investigation.
Nikoline was last seen at Funky Buddha in Puerto Banus celebrating Norway’s World Cup victory on July 5.
She disappeared from the venue at around 4am, after which her phone went offline and she stopped communicating with friends and family.
As Guardia Civil sources previously told The Olive Press, she then took an Uber towards Fuengirola, where she had been staying with her mother and stepfather.
She was later struck by a large vehicle on the A-7 near Mijas.
It took investigators several hours to identify her body because she was not carrying any identification.
