A COLLISION involving three cars on Malaga’s A-7 has caused one injury and an increase in road delays.
Drivers traveling near Fuengirola may experience an increase in traffic due to a three-vehicle accident that took place earlier this afternoon.
At least one person was injured in the three-car pile up, according to the Guardia Civil who responded to the scene.
The crash occurred around 1pm at the 1009 kilometre marker and required the closure of the left lane on the A-7 for emergency responders to intervene.
Data from the DGT earlier this year recorded a decrease in fatal accidents.
From January to March 2026, the amount of traffic fatalities fell by 56 down to 22% compared to 2025, with 196 deaths.
Pere Navarro, the head of the DGT, congratulated drivers on being the ‘true architects of this decrease’ and for the advances in road safety.
The regions with the highest increase in fatalities for the first quarter were Castilla y Leon, Castilla la Mancha, Extremadura and Galicia.
Despite the initial decrease in roadway incidents, the peak summer months have already seen several deaths along major highways.
Recent deadly incidents on the A-7 include a woman being struck by a lorry driver, a hit-and-run death of a Norwegian teen, and a motorcyclist dying in Mijas.
Navarro’s call for caution along Spain’s motorways comes with the advice: ‘prudence and caution are the best travel buddies to reach our destinations and return home safely.’
