VIDEO footage of a man hitting his pregnant girlfriend has resulted in his arrest at an Andalucia airport.
Malaga is experiencing more instances of gender-based violence after a pregnant woman was seen repeatedly hit by her boyfriend at the airport.
The violent episode took place on July 18 at the Malaga Airport just after midnight.
Several witnesses of the incident contacted members of the local police unit on site to report the attack, claiming that the victim was visibly pregnant.Â
Police have arrested the 24-year-old suspect after confirming the assault through airport security cameras.
During the interrogation, the suspect confirmed that his girlfriend was pregnant and admitted they had an argument.Â
Based on the security footage, witness statements and consulting with airport security officials, the arrest was made as gender-based violence.Â
When authorities managed to track down the pregnant girlfriend who ran off after the attack, she declined offers to go to a health centre or the police station to file a report against her partner.Â
Despite this, police still filed a report and sent it to a local judge.
Andalucia has had the highest number of gender-violence murders in any Spanish region, with nine recorded so far in 2026.
Seven of those killings happened in the Malaga province.

Malaga has had a record month for gender violence against women, ranking the highest in its history after five women were killed.Â
One of the recent deaths was a 30-year-old woman in Antequera who was stabbed to death by her ex-partner, just five days after his restraining order had lapsed.
