A WOMAN badly brunt in the Los Gallardos wildfire has died in a Sevilla hospital, raising the death toll from the fire to 14.
She had been treated in the burns unit at the Virgen del Rocio University Hospital after suffering burns to 70% of her body in the blaze, which broke out in Almeria province on July 9.
The woman arrived at the hospital in a ‘very grave’ state and was first stabilised in intensive care, before coming under the specialist treatment of its Intensive Medicine and Plastic Surgery and Major Burns Unit teams, the Junta said.
Her name and nationality have not been released.
Three other patients remain in the same burns unit weeks after the fire that injured them was finally put out.
The Junta has not disclosed their current condition.
All four were among 18 people who needed medical treatment after the fire tore through the Almocaizar area of Los Gallardos, an inland Almeria town around 10km from the Costa de Almeria resort of Mojacar.

The flames spread quickly to the nearby villages of Bedar and Lubrin, and reached the Sierra de Cabrera-Bedar Special Area of Conservation, a stretch of protected Mediterranean scrubland and woodland.
Firefighters with Infoca, the regional government’s forest-fire response service, finally declared the blaze extinguished at 9pm on July 24, 15 days after it broke out, once it had burned through 52 sq km of land.
Seven of the fire’s first 13 confirmed victims were British, three were Belgian and one was Spanish.
A French national and an American also died, Guardia Civil forensic identification confirmed in mid-July.
Among them was a 93-year-old British woman who suffered burns to 20% of her body and died on July 12 at Almeria’s Torrecardenas Hospital, where she had been treated since the day the fire broke out.
It has not been confirmed whether this latest victim also held British nationality or came from elsewhere.
The Guardia Civil is still investigating what sparked the fire, with a fallen electricity cable among the possible causes being examined.
