SPAIN has been promised a dramatic shift in the weather this August following a relentless series of heatwaves that are set to make July the hottest month on record.
The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts has predicted a break in the extreme conditions from Tuesday August 4, according to weather experts at Meteored.
A highly variable atmospheric pattern will replace the static mass of hot air that has suffocated the Iberian Peninsula and the Balearics for the past two months.

Meteorologist Jose Miguel Viñas has confirmed that while August will remain warmer than average, the relentless, back-to-back heatwaves of June and July will finally come to an end.
But the changing forecast conceals a more turbulent trend for the weeks ahead.
The shifting atmosphere is expected to trigger occasional DANAs, bringing intense and widespread thunderstorms to the country.
Forecasters have pinpointed the northeast quadrant of the mainland as the epicentre for these severe weather events.
The instability will peak from August 10, when conditions become highly favourable for heavy downpours.
Residents in the eastern third of the country will not have to wait that long, with storms and downbursts forecast to batter the Mediterranean coast from Friday July 31.
Before the relief arrives, however, Spain must endure the peak of its fourth official heatwave of the year.
A strong anticyclone will remain dominant over the coming weekend, keeping temperatures dangerously high across the territory.
After months of a stagnant and suffocating summer, Spain is finally about to see the sky break.
