HUMAN remains believed to be a torso have been found on a access road in Alhaurin de la Torre, a Malaga town near the Sierra de Mijas.
It is the second time human remains have turned up in the same small pocket of the town in just over a year.
Guardia Civil confirmed the discovery on Tuesday morning in Pinos de Alhaurin, a neighbourhood of scattered detached homes on the town’s edge, and said an investigation has been opened.
Officers gave no further detail.
This is expected to complicate identification, Malaga Hoy reported, since no other body parts have so far turned up.
All hypotheses remain open, from accidental death to homicide.
The remains have been taken to Malaga’s Institute of Legal Medicine, where forensic examiners will try to establish identity and cause of death.
A team first attended the scene to formally recover them, the standard step before any post-mortem examination can begin.
The area’s last discovery came in June 2025, when council workers clearing brush on a municipal plot found a human skull hidden inside a drain.
It was identified in February as Francisco Jose Aguera, a 59-year-old from Coin, a town around 30 minutes away, who had been missing since April 28, 2020.
Guardia Civil are treating his death as a homicide, an investigation that remains open.
No other part of his body was ever found.
