A SAILING YACHT carrying five adults and a child struck the breakwater at Sotogrande Marina on Monday evening triggering an emergency rescue.
The incident happened at around 7.15pm near the entrance to the port in San Roque.
Salvamento Maritimo dispatched the Salvamar Gadir rescue boat and the Helimer 222 helicopter from its coordination centre in Tarifa.

Three people were airlifted from the sailing yacht, while the child was brought ashore by jet ski with the help of San Roque’s beach rescue service. The remaining two occupants left the vessel by their own means.
Guardia Civil officers, Policia Local, ambulance crews and lifeguards from nearby Torreguadiaro also attended the scene.
Images from the scene showed the sailing yacht stranded against the rocks beside the breakwater as emergency crews worked around the vessel.
No injuries were reported, while the cause of the incident remains unknown.
