They had received a call about a fight taking place in one of the rooms.
Several patrols rushed there and found a 65-year-old British man at the reception area- covered in blood and with serious injuries to his face and hand.
Medical assistance was requested and an ambulance crew treated him before taking the victim to Manacor hospital.
Emergency services said the Brit had an open wound on the head, a deep cut on the nose and that his left-hand thumb had been bitten off.
Officers went to the room where the assault took place and found large traces of blood there as well as in the corridor.
Furniture had been displaced during the fight and a lamp had been broken.
A combination of witness statements and evidence found at the scene led to the victim’s son-in-law being arrested for assault and causing injury.
No further details about the British detainee have been released.
