Shooting at Estepona beach bar – man rushed to Marbella hospital after being hit twice

A MAN has been rushed to hospital after being shot twice outside a beach bar on the Costa del Sol, close to Marbella.

The shooting happened in the car park of the Sonora Beach chiringuito, a well-known beach bar on Playa de Guadalmina, on the stretch of coast that straddles Estepona and Marbella.

Andalucia’s 112 emergency services received several calls at around 5.30pm on Tuesday from people reporting gunshots near the beach.

Witnesses told operators a man had collapsed and was bleeding on the ground.

He had been shot in the abdomen and one leg, according to sources close to the case.

Paramedics took him to Costa del Sol Hospital in Marbella.

Policia Local and Policia Nacional officers were sent to the scene, alongside health workers, to secure the area and treat the injured man.

Policia Nacional has since taken charge of the investigation.

Detectives are searching for a dark-coloured car the attackers are believed to have used to flee the scene.

Some sources say the attackers may have been wearing hoods, though police have not confirmed this detail.

The investigation remains open, with detectives yet to confirm a motive for the shooting or the identity of those involved.
