A RALLY has been announced on Sunday in San Pedro, Marbella, following the violent death of a transgender woman in the area on Monday.
A 35-year-old trans woman, named as Franyel, was stabbed to death in her home by her partner on Monday, 10 August.
The rally is set to take place at 8pm on Calle Alemania in San Pedro, where organisers are coming together to protest against sexist violence and transphobia.

Due to the victim not having been legally registered as a woman, authorities announced that the murder will be categorised in court as domestic violence, rather than gender violence.
This move has been denounced by the Trans Association of Andalusia-Sylvia Rivera (ATA), who have submitted documents to judicial and government bodies, demanding the deceased trans woman to be recognised as a victim of gender violence.
“Faced with sexist violence and transphobia, let’s respond in an organized way!” The poster reads.
The poster also mentions that out of the 36 women murdered in acts of gender violence this year, seven – or 20% – have been in Malaga.
The organisers maintain that the murder should be categorised as gender violence, considering its exclusion from the term an example of discriminatory behaviour.
