A YOUNG boy tragically died after jumping from a third-floor window to escape a house fire in northern Spain.
The ten-year-old leapt from an apartment in Burlada, Navarra, after a blaze broke out in the home around 5pm on Thursday.
Paramedics and firefighters raced to the scene amid reports the boy had hit the ground in a nearby square, suffering critical injuries.
Emergency crews rushed him to a nearby hospital, but he could not be saved.
Neighbours had alerted emergency services after seeing smoke billowing from the home and hearing the child scream.
“We heard cries for help and then we saw him on the ground,” a neighbour told Diario de Navarra, visibly shaken.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control around 5.45pm.
Regional Police are investigating the cause of the fire and whether the boy was alone when the flames broke out.
Spanish media reported that another person was also taken to hospital after suffering smoke inhalation.
