A BRITISH pensioner was rescued from the brink of death after a severe heatstroke left him trapped in his southern Spain home for nearly three days.
Guardia Civil officers found the 74-year-old lying unresponsive on the floor of his property in Mazarron, Murcia, before he was rushed to hospital in a very serious condition.
Dazed and helpless from the scorching heat, the man had been stuck inside for between two and three days, sources have told The Olive Press.

A Guardia Civil patrol from Totana was sent to the property after concerned neighbours noticed his car had not moved for the entire time.
With no one answering the door and no key available, officers forced open a window and managed to reach a set of keys, allowing them to finally enter the home.
When they found the pensioner on the upper floor, he still had a pulse but was completely unresponsive, the Guardia Civil said.
He was rushed to Santa Lucia Hospital in Cartagena, where he was admitted for several weeks.
He has since made a full recovery and is now back at home.
In a moving video shared online, the Guardia Civil officers who rescued him can be seen paying him a visit at his home.
The Brit can be heard saying ‘it was probably because of my diabetes’ as he shares warm smiles with the officers.
Mazarron is home to more than 4,300 British nationals, according to the latest regional population figures.
Temperatures in the area have soared this summer amid successive heatwaves, with highs reaching 36C as recently as last Thursday.
