The Valencian Community president, Juanfran Perez Llorca, described it as ‘excellent news for the Community and the tourism sector as a whole’.

The Valencian Tourism Ministry have several meetings with North American carriers in the last two years, including talks at Madrid’s Fitur travel fair in January.
The Ministry- led by Marian Cano- said they had been negotiating ‘for a long time’ for a U.S. connection to become a reality.
A statement said that the last meeting was held only a fortnight ago and has made it possible to bring ‘a direct connection that is the culmination of all the work carried out to strengthen the international connectivity of the destination’.
The talks on August 13 saw United ask for more information on the route and its long-term prospects.
The carrier was sent details about the growth of Valencia airport, likely demand for such a service, the ability to attract all-year travellers, and business links between the U.S. and the region.
