A 49-YEAR-OLD man was airlifted to hospital in a ‘serious’ condition after reportedly slipping from his seat on a Batman-themed rollercoaster in Madrid.
The accident happened at around 2.30pm on Saturday on the Batman Gotham City Escape attraction at the Parque Warner theme park in San Martin de la Vega, located around 25 kilometres south of the Spanish capital.
The victim was treated at the scene before being airlifted to Madrid’s 12 de Octubre Hospital, where he was understood to be in a potentially serious condition.
He suffered an open fracture to his left leg and a closed fracture to his right leg in the accident.

A spokesperson for Parque Warner said the ride ‘stopped immediately’ after the incident and that its emergency procedures were activated, with the injured visitor ‘attended to immediately by emergency teams’.
One witness told El Pais that the man slipped out of his seat during the ride and became partially trapped in the carriage.
They said he was left ‘swinging’ from the attraction before becoming trapped between two seats, reportedly ending up upside down as the rollercoaster continued before it could be stopped.
The Batman Gotham City Escape ride was inaugurated in 2023 and is described as Spain’s first multi-launch rollercoaster.
It reaches speeds of more than 100km/h and has a maximum height of 45 metres.

The accident is not the first serious incident to have occurred at Parque Warner.
In 2005, a 22-year-old man died after an accident on the park’s Haunted Hotel attraction.
At the time, the park said he had stood up after suffering a panic attack and subsequently suffered a fatal blow to the head.
His family disputed this account and claimed the ride’s safety bar had not functioned correctly.
