A Norwegian Airlines flight was forced to abort landing at Malaga airport

A NORWEGIAN Airlines flight has been forced to abort its landing at Malaga airport after a private business jet failed to clear the runway in time.

The Boeing 737 MAX 8 was arriving from Helsinki, Finland, on Tuesday morning.

Flight D82882 was on its final approach to the Costa del Sol transport hub at around 9.37am.

But pilots had to pull up and circle back around due to ‘inappropriate landing separation’, according to aviation tracker FL360aero.

Preliminary reports suggest a Cessna Citation business jet had landed just ahead of the Norwegian passenger plane.

However, the smaller aircraft was moving too slowly and lingered on the tarmac.

This prompted the arriving Boeing crew to discontinue their descent and execute what is known as a go-around.

A go-around is a standard safety procedure where pilots abort an approach because the runway or flight path is not completely clear.

The aircraft simply pulls up, circles the area, and repositions for another attempt once the tarmac is safe.
