A PASSENGER ferry crashed into a shipping crane at a docks in Barcelona yesterday knocking over a large shipping crane and creating a huge fire.

The shocking footage shows the crane fall after the collision and as it hits the ground there is a small explosion and then a massive container fire.

Dock workers can be seen running for their lives as the large crane falls, seemingly in slow motion, before crashing down.

Bad weather was blamed for the vessel straying so far off course and authorities confirmed that neither people on the boat or on the docks were injured.

The containers which sparked very quickly contained flammable products, but fire crews were able to extinguish the blaze a short while later.
